Common Snapping Turtle

In 1995, a clutch of snapping turtles was hatched out at our Canton campus, the Roaring Brook Nature Center. All the baby turtles were released back into the wild except for one which hatched a little later and was considerably smaller. This turtle was retained at the Center and is now over a foot in shell length resembling ancestral turtles who have been around since the time of the dinosaurs.
