Spotted Turtles

Dot was donated to the Center when we opened our Turtle Town exhibit. He was owned by a local turtle enthusiast who could not care for him anymore and wanted to donate him so there would be some native turtles in the exhibit. Dot is quite active and will often swim along the glass with his roommate, Tita, greeting visitors as they explore Turtle Town.

Tita is a very social turtle and will often follow visitors around in her tank when approached. She was part a very loving family who gave him exceptional care and she was loved dearly, but unfortunately did not have the time to care for her anymore. Spotted turtles are a species of special concern here in Connecticut and thus are illegal to sell as pets. This turtle was sold as a pet in eastern Connecticut to someone who was unaware of this law.
