Scarlet was bought when he was very young from a pet store by an individual who kept and raised him in his home for several years. The person’s intent was to bulk Scarlet up to an impressive adult size and sell him for more money.

Much to this person’s disappointment there is not a huge market for large 3+ feet lizards. Not wanting to have Scarlet indefinitely they began to search for an alternative home and he ended up arriving here at the Center. Scarlet is now a part of our Lizard Lair exhibit.
