Pretty Boy and the Twins

Gila Monsters

These three Gila Monsters were donated by Dr. Schwenk of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at The University of Connecticut. He had these Gila Monsters since 1996 where he studied chemoreception (tongue flicking) and the evolution of their tongues. In 2016, the protocols ended for the research and these three were able to be rehomed here to the Center. While being used for research they were all kept separate except for the Twins, but they have been slowly introduced to Pretty Boy and will live out the rest of their days here at the Center.
