Crested Geckos

Jimmy and Stumpy were donated during the busiest month that we get calls for animals, which is August.

August is our busiest month because it is the time of year when students are going off to college. Since they cannot bring pets with them to college and more often than not the parents do not want to care for them while they are gone, they begin to look for alternative homes.

Crested geckos were thought to be extinct in the wild until they were rediscovered in 1994. They are an arboreal species spending a majority of their lives in the trees, which is why they have sticky toe pads to help them climb amongst the branches.
