Ornate Box Turtle

Toby, the Ornate Box Turtle, is one of the Center’s most charming and personable animals. As someone passes Toby’s enclosure he pops out his head from his burrow that he dug to see what is going on. The young volunteers call him the “ Nature Center’s Busy Body”. However, Toby was not always enjoying freshly made salads and specialty salads because before Toby came to the Center he was passed around from family to family many of whom did not know the care he required. Toby came to the Center as a middle aged turtle around 50 years old with tons of health issues due to neglect. Luckily, he is now happy and healthy and very loved.
